Aside from the rather humorous errors in the piece (2002??), I note that the optimism derives from rather carefully chosen comparisons. (g)

These guys ought to get out a bit and have a look around.
Virtually to a man, industry participants view Q4 as a disaster. Unit sales were down y-o-y, as were revenues. Profits were more than rare. The N.Y. boys have been drinking too much during the holidays.
