Twenty or so firms are presenting during this three-day event, but General Magic is not mentioned in the program. (Even Fonix is on the program.) GMGC needs another top-ten single really soon. Was that Fortune Ten hint just the existing GM or IBM relationship or is it recognition of the truest kind, $$$?

The website trade show list is empty, but there is a note on the fridge, "Check and see where some of our own visionary leaders will be presenting on the latest trends in personality-rich voice solutions to help companies enhance the way they do business. Check back with us in January for upcoming tradeshows in FY2002."

What PRs or SEC filings are coming? NASDAQ warning next week? Sales progress next week, one month since last? Another financing (I think not until mid February)?

This year we probably don't have to worry about a blood bath in the management team. There are few jobs available, and all have employment agreements that protect them quite well. The one exception might be Paula Skokowski, VP Marketing, who is no longer quoted in PRs and has sales and product development VPs who seem to encroach on her territory. I met her briefly, and she seemed smart and determined but not at all personable. She has two first-rate engineering degrees. She is quite young compared to the average age of the team, which is middle-to-late forties. If things get worse, I would not be surprised to see Paula leave for a better opportunity.
