Tom, learn history, Arabs (and Christians) were trying to convert Jews by force to their respective faiths for a good part of the last millennium. The only sin you can on Zionism is that it started the modern anti colonialist movement of national liberation, long before any other national entity could even muster the intellectual prowess to formalize a theme of national self expression. Certainly long before people in "Southern Syria" (today's Palestine) decided they have national aspirations, separate of those of Syria and Transjordan. Why don't you start raving a little about Spain's rape of Central and South America, and how about our own country treatment of it's own Indians in the last 200 years. Come to think about it, how about the forced conversion under the sword by Muslims of populations throughout all south Asia all the way to Indonesia. More recently, I am sure you lauded the Taliban's blowing up those antique Budhas as well as acts of "national liberation". And if you want to talk about "land grabbing", start a movement for the return of Sakhalin to Japan and Silesia, Alsace Lorraine and East Prussia to Germany. Now you have real causes.
You make me laugh with your "intended to set up a "United States of Palestine", modeled after what, the current dictatorship and autocratic regimes around Israel? Under what Law, the Sharia? Why would the Israeli submit to such an affront voluntarily? They were ready to accept the partition, the Arabs did not. period. The Arab undertook acts of aggression to reverse the UN plans, it is quite natural that if they fail, they will lose some land (as German and Japan did), they try again, and they lose more, until they have none, and by their own actions fulfill the old Zabotinski/Begin/Sharon dream, which is not accepted by the majority of Israel's population. Your "poor" Arabs and Palestinians have only themselves to blame. Time that they recognize that time is not on their side.
