that a U.S. citizen would say, "We chose to kill them indiscriminately," and "...there is no reasonable debate as to whether or not the killing of millions of innocent civilians had any actual impact on ending the war," and "On behalf of the United States ... I apologise."
But then, of course, it was made clear (by others) that this was not an American who was speaking, but rather a Canadian citizen undertaking to malign his neighboring country's leadership in World War II, and to dishonor the U.S. military forces, dead and living.
Only your own countrymen can bear shame for your audacity in doing so.
You have explained (as I recall) that in using we you were speaking on behalf of "all humanity." In that case, who was all humanity apologizing to?
Moreover, total Japanese civilians killed in World War II are estimated at 300,000 (http://www.geocities.com/Athens/5268/casualty.html), including 190,000 in Hiroshima and 100,000 in Nagasaki. Appalling numbers, to be sure. But just who are the "millions of innocent civilians" that you refer to above?
