Actually all mathematical proofs are exercises in tautology. The conclusions are embedded in the premises and the proof simply shows how that is. One of the classical problems in mathematical philosophy is how one gets from the abstract world of mathematics to the "real world" of the physical. Philosophers worry about this problem but most scientists and engineers are more practical folks. If it works, they'll use the tool.

The selection of premises and axioms is of paramount importance in any system of reasoning. The key breakthrough which is necessary to unify science and spirit is the acceptance of consciousness as a foundational axiom.
