Techs moving up strongly. Money being invested in prospective 2002 winners and may continue for perhaps a week
This would include csco,msft,intc,Sunw, Dell -as Intc goes, so goes Dell.
These would appear safer than others, but there will also be speculators in lesser caps. .
Overall, I think the bulls can break the upper channels. But am not certain- that seems to be the only stopper to progress.
Option expiration on Jan 19 th. A great chance to destroy the puts.
But once again, the bears have had the best of it for 2 years- can they pull one more rabbit out of their hats and hold these stocks down?
For Dell, I would look at $34 soon, an excessive sales warning around the 17 th (revenue to meet or exceed estimate). If forthcoming, I would do it 2 days before expiry, but have no input(haha)
Also look for new "deals" to be announced- like the $26 bil deal with IBM last year for components, or the x bil deal for flat panels from Asia, or the just-announced deal for notebook production..
Dell has been pretty quiet on the news front lately, yet those new ads are outstanding and should be productive.. So I'm looking for Dell at $40 sometime between Jan 16 and the earnings report which is usually around Feb 10
Summary:
1. New chips and good news from Amat, Amd, Intc, Aapl will breath new life into the dead P/C's
2. IMO Dell will have some important announcements to make before earnings.
