Combjelly, Re: "Note that a desktop M1900 runs at a closk speed of 1.6GHz. Assuming that the model rating for mobiles tracks with the one for desktops, it could mean that AMD is planning 1.9GHz or 2GHz mobiles by the end of this year..."

AMD certainly has the ability to surpass the Pentium 4 in mobile if they can execute to their roadmap. But, as some people have mentioned, their roadmap has already slipped. There are no 1.3GHz Athlon 4 chips launched, and the 1.2GHz models are hard to find. In fact, the only ones that I can seem able to find in any retail store I've ever seen is 1GHz Athlon 4. That's it. If AMD is having trouble with bin splits above 1GHz, then how are they going to get to 1.9GHz or 2.0GHz by the end of this year?

Of course, if they can even get to 1.6GHz by the end of this year, that might be faster than any chip Intel can come out with in the Pentium 4 line. Personally, I agree that AMD's mobile roadmap looks better than Intel's. I guess we'll have to see what Banias offers early next year (I know, it's a long time to wait).
