<<The SOX is either close to a short term top or a real breakout that will set new trading ranges higher than we saw in 2001.>>

The SOX had a real internal struggle going on last Friday. Eight of the 16 stocks in the index were up and 8 were down, typically 1 to 2 percent up or down, but the outcome was almost a stalemate. As you know, the SOX closed at 590.62 on Thursday and 589.89 on Friday - less than a 1 point difference. The semi-equips in the index, AMAT, KLAC and NVLS were down 0.59, 0.02 and 2.01 percent respectively on Friday - no doubt, in some measure, due to the Needham remarks.

If Monday is a good day - given minimal or no negative comments out of the brokerage houses - the SOX should go over 600. If that happens, the rally could continue a little further. All this is speculation, and we will soon see how it all shakes out next week. So far my greed has exceeded my fear, but that could change in a hurry!<gg>
