the first 3 Santana disks are must haves IMO. LAst night was another great "only in Austin" experience

started off the night at the 'Mercury' where the Tosca strings section played experimental music with 2 of our more out there local heroes, "The Golden Arm Trio" and "Brownhornet". PLace was quiet as chuch...super intense. Tosca has been touring with David Byrne as his band. I did't see that show here but I'm sure it was superb.
Headed over to 'Antone's' for a night with Doyle Bramhall II. Doyle has been on the verge of stardom for years...he's been playing guitar with Clapton on this last tour. Now that he's done with that gig I expect him to play more often here. When we turned the corner I could see on the marquis that the opening act was "Craig Ross"...Craig only plays live about once a year. His excellent "Dead Spy Report" was one of my favorites from 2 years ago. It still gets heavy play out at the lake imusic.artistdirect.com

the drive home was interesting....heavy fog was interrupted in spots by pouring rain. Slow going...arrived home at 3:30

DOH!

Killer music night..always available in A-town

I wish all my Burner pals could join me for a "field trip" some weekend

"...I'd love to turn you on......"

:)
