They thought he was a potential informant. That is different from mere discriminatory targeting. The report claims that the firearms charge was not the result of entrapment, and was not, therefore, bogus. I have no independent knowledge that that is incorrect. It is a standard technique to try to leverage criminals to inform, and I approve of it. I do not regard it as blackmail.

Now, the Department of Justice report could be a whitewash, but since the article by Bovard referred to it, and some of it is pretty damning, I thought it was worth digging out. I do not consider Randy Weaver a more reliable source for what went down.......
