Hi Glenn: What I mean is that most everybody on this island uses Time/Warner for cable access and the TW fiber network covers the whole island. TW's Roadrunner service is very popular -- I can't say if the adoption of cable modems is higher, but it is available to anybody who wants it.

If the last mile is fiber, it would seem there should not be a bottleneck there. In fact, just the opposite. This conversation can never be resolved with a sure ending. The amount of factors that enter the equation are huge. Slowdowns could be caused the the DNS servers as they become busier. The routers can become busier causing latency. Maybe just a few yeards of the main pipe is overloaded. There are thousands of possibilities and in many cases the cause can be a combination of a few.
