Intel, AMD, Cyrix: ugh! A pox on tech stocks and their uneven
earnings! On a brighter note, I wanted to buy some MOT and HP
but didn't have the funds so now I'm glad of that. Agreed, Cyrix
has a good chance with its new cpu and is looking cheap but I'll
never say a tech stock can't get any cheaper. I went with AMD as
the cpu segment is only about 1/4 of their business so if that flops
at least they have a big business in static and flash memory. The
static memory part is holding but the flash is getting killed and
hitting even the biggest semi producers. I don't know too much about
MOVE, just that they make some kind of a motion picture ride simulator. The picture I have is that they make something like the
Star Tours ride at Disneyland. I can't find anything on them, no
background or earnings reports, so they must be pretty small potatoes
whatever they do. The new stock that IMAX is issuing is because they're growing so fast that they need the money to continue expanding
so in the long run it shouldn't be dilutive. If they keep growing at
these rates for awhile then they might become profitable enough to
start buying back some of it. I'm thinking of cashing in the portfolio and taking it to Vegas; it's beginning to look like that
might be just as good!
