UK Cable Operator Omne Communications, Selects InfoSpace to Deliver Comprehensive Platform of PC and TV Services

BELLEVUE, Wash. & LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 7, 2002-- InfoSpace, Inc. (NASDAQ: INSP - news), a provider of wireless and Internet software and application services, has been chosen by Omne Communications, a new digital broadband telecommunications company bringing digital interactive TV, telephone and high speed internet access to homes and businesses throughout Southwest Scotland and Northwest England, to provide a platform of Internet applications and services across the PC and TV.

The services will be available to subscribers within Omne's digital network enabling them to access and personalize information, applications and services from either the PC or TV.

The launch of Omne's Portal Services, powered by InfoSpace, is expected during the first quarter of 2002 in conjunction with the roll-out and availability of Omne's dial-up, DSL (Digital Subscriber Line), TV and telephony services. As with many of InfoSpace's available technologies, its applications and services for Omne will be presented with Omne's branding, look and feel, and will comprise personalization, personal information management (PIM) and communications services.

Omne's Chief Executive Ian Renshaw said, ``In developing our new network, we're determined to exploit the latest technology to offer the very best service to our subscribers. InfoSpace's services will enable us to do just that.''

York Baur, InfoSpace executive vice president, wireline and broadband, said, ``InfoSpace will soon be providing Omne with an excellent example of the integration of our platform and applications over PC and TV. Omne will offer its subscribers the functionality to personalize information and to access a variety of applications and services from their PCs and TVs. InfoSpace's services are designed to enhance Omne's range of bundled Internet, digital TV and telephony products.''

Some of the features InfoSpace will be supplying for Omne include:

User Manager or ``My OMNE'' that enables the user to create a personalized start page
comprehensive news, sports, weather, entertainment and shopping channels
integrated Email and PIM tools, such as address book and calendar
extensive metasearch capabilities and reference channel
