Thus, Reagan was the key to the political demise of the Soviet Union Lets not forget the role of John Paul II. When he visited Poland a force was unleashed that could not be stopped. After Poland fell, other countries began to fall like dominoes. Reagan should also be given credit for letting Bill Casey (the last of the great cowboys) have a free hand in deciding how to go about things in Poland. He sent Lane Kirkland (the last of the great AFL-CIO leaders) there to teach Lech Walesa how to organize his union. Don't know about Kirkland, but Casey and Walesa were devout Catholics. I guess you could say it was a Catholic conspiracy...<g>
