Hi Chip,

I'm happy to hear you had a nice holiday season... the snow country is a nice place to be in Dec. :-)

I really feel that too many traders focus excessively on looking to catch turning points and changes in trend instead of trying to trade in harmony with the trend. I've gone through that experience myself. Jacob Bernstein writes about this topic eloquently in his book, "The Investors Quotient".

There are some traders, like Paul Tudor Jones who are using Elliot Wave, Cycles etc and are trading tops and bottoms, but It's really a smaller subset of individuals who can excel at that.

I think it's probably a good idea for traders also keep tra ck a couple of simple Mechanical buy and sell systems, as well as other types of Analysis. even if they don't use them systems signals to make trading decisions.

One example might be Welles Wilder's Directional Movement + and - crossover system, and also using his ADX indicator.

But this is just a thought of mine.

John.
