What is it exactly you are proposing, that the Jewish people abandon their 000 years old dream of a national expression in their land? Without having to contend with Helenistic, Roman, Christian (orthodox?), Muslim or Ottoman yokes? Well, what if what they are fighting for does no fit any of these, and what if in their wisdom, they have managed to get the UN (and few other powers of the times, including the Ottoman empire and later the British one) to accept such a proposition? Why would the Israeli willingly want to dismantle what they have built over the last 120 years with blood, sweat and tears? As I have suggested before, it would be the same as asking the US to yield Manhattan to its original owners, or for that matter, ask Russia and France to relinquish territories seized from the German in the last few conflicts they had.
