I already told you, there isn't! Not to support the economy as it is now.
If you knew anything about oil and gas exploration and production,you would
realize that your analogy of whether the gas in your tank will last all year is
totally ridiculous. There aren't huge untapped reserves just sitting there waiting
for someone to turn the taps on. The strategic petroleum reserve that our
government has and which Clinton was selling off when oil prices were low (great move!)
is only enough to keep the country going for a few months. Since Bush and
Cheney came to office, at least they have been adding to it. If we were
suddenly dependent on domestic oil(about 40% of our current supply),
this economy which is in recession now, would look like a
major boom in comparison to what would happen.
