So, why not push for exploration in ANWR? That way we are not exploiting and polluting other countries as much.
Also, it might help save some US lives in military conflicts abroad. The danger to the environment by exploring for oil in ANWR is grossly exaggerated by opponents of drilling there, IMO. The Alaskans who actually live there are very much in favor of the idea. They will put any pipelines high enough so that migrating animals are not interfered with and can easily move around.
It's funny that Daschle stuck an amendment on a bill last December to spare industry in his home state from being responsible for the environmental mess it has left behind, but he is dead set against drilling in ANWR. Hypocrisy rules, I guess!
