4:36PM Flextronics (FLEX) 27.00 -0.03: -- Update -- Hearing that co is preparing a spot secondary offering for sale at $25.96; size is said to be 20 mln shares.

4:20PM TranSwitch (TXCC) 5.03 -0.33 (-6.2%): Co provides Q4 guidance; sees loss of $0.11-$0.13 on rev of approx. $4.5 mln (consensus -$0.11 and $4.41 mln); co indicates that guidance is are consistent with prior estimates..

4:17PM Magma Design (LAVA) 28.18 +0.87 (+3.2%): Announces that Flextronics Semiconductor, a unit of Flextronics (FLEX), has licensed its Blast Fusion physical design system. The licensing agreement will allow Flextronics Semi to provide skilled design services to its customers for the implementation of complex, deep submicron systems-on-a-chip using Magma software. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

11:31AM Sector Watch: Semiconductor : -- Technical -- Sell pressure on the group is contributing to general weakness on the Nasdaq. The SOX is currently trading at 582 which represents its worst levels of the session. Look for initial support in the area of 577/580 followed by another area of modest support around 563/567. If those both fail, the index should have more solid support at its 200-day simple moving average of 555. To the upside, look for intraday resistance at 585 followed by subsequent overhead at 592.

10:49AM Rumor Mill : Shares of Network Appliance (NTAP 25.42 -1.31) dragged lower by concerns company will have difficulty making its quarter... Rumor in the market that Broadcom (BRCM 47.30 -1.50) is close to receiving an order from Apple.

8:55AM Benchmark Elec (BHE) 21.02: Co expects Q4 results to exceed analysts' expectations, reflecting improvements in revenues and earnings from amounts reported in Q3. Based on current indications from its customers, co expects results for Q1 to show modest improvement over Q4. (Analysts had expected 10% EPS and 3% rev growth in Q1).

8:35AM Micron Tech (MU) 35.95: -- Update -- The Financial Times reports this morning that the much-discussed Micron deal to buy Hynix Semi's DRAM business is threatened by a dispute about terms; reports from South Korea put a price tag on the deal of about $5 bln, which people close to Micron told the FT was much too high.

8:30AM Applied Micro (AMCC) 12.47: Salomon Smith Barney cuts ests for AMCC to reflect difficult telecom end mkt environment; firm expects co to report an in-line Dec qtr, but believes that March qtr is unlikely to show growth and could be lower. Lowers FY02 est to ($0.18) from ($0.16) and FY03 to ($0.12) from ($0.01).
