Twin Mining receives Jackson Inlet quality results
Twin Mining Corp TWG Shares issued 72,109,529 Jul 26 2001 close $.520 Thursday Jul 26 2001 News Release
Mr. Hermann Derbuch reports Twin Mining has received the findings of Diamond Trading N.V. of Antwerp, Belgium (see news in Stockwatch April 5, 2001, and Web site: www.diamondtradingnv.com) during its recent examination of Twin Mining's Jackson Inlet diamonds at Lakefield Research Limited. Diamond Trading N.V. is a minority shareholder of Twin Mining Corporation.
The examination was performed on diamonds recovered from the 18.41-tonne sample (86 diamonds + one millimetre, 3.644 carats; see news in Stockwatch July, 18, 2001) from the Freightrain pipe on Twin Mining's 100-per-cent-owned Jackson Inlet property.
Diamond Trading N.V. summarized the results of their examination as follows: "The diamonds we examined were from Twin Mining's Freightrain pipe. The diamonds are similar to high-quality South African diamonds but without having their characteristic yellow colouring.
"In comparison with the Slave Craton diamonds (for example: Ekati and Diavik), which are generally octahedrons with higher occurrence of black piques (impurities) and maccles (intergrown diamond crystals), the Jackson Inlet sample differs in the total absence of boart, rejections, coated and cubes, which are low-grade and low-yield diamonds. We also noted the absence of small feathers (small diamond crystal flaws) that appear across the range of Slave Craton diamonds. The absence of feathers, impurities and colouring in the better half of the Freightrain sample, combined with their rounded shape will produce high yielding polished diamonds of good lustre, high purity and colour grading. The purity (IF-VVSI) and colour (average F or better) of the sawable (highest yield diamonds) is remarkably high and they represent a much higher proportion of the sample than is current in South African and Canadian kimberlite mine production."
Twin Mining is currently carrying out a diamond drilling program on the Freightrain pipe and on other anomalies on the company's properties. (c) Copyright 2002 Canjex Publishing Ltd. canada-stockwatch.com |
