Micron Negotiators Return to Korea for Third Round of Talks
By Ian King

Seoul, Jan. 8 (Bloomberg) -- Micron Technology Inc. negotiators are in Korea for a third round of talks with Hynix Semiconductor Inc. on a tie-up that could create the world's largest maker of computer memory chips.

``A delegation representing various aspects of the company'' is in Korea, said Sean Mahoney, a Micron spokesman in an electronic mail that did not offer further details. It is the second time a team from Micron has visited Korea.

No. 2 memory chipmaker Micron may face a tough task making an offer that bridges its needs and those Hynix's local creditor banks that are to become the controlling shareholders of the Korean company. Creditors said they expect an offer this month.

``Even if Hynix and Micron sign a memorandum of understanding by the end of next week, a final agreement is not likely to happen for quite some time,'' said Seo Jung Ho, who helps manage 1.1 trillion won ($845 million) in equities at Daehan Investment Trust Management Co. in Seoul.
