LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Delphi Automotive Systems (NYSE: DPH) announced today that it has been selected to supply the satellite digital audio receiver service (SDARS) modules for DaimlerChrysler Corporation. The multi-year manufacturing agreement will add satellite radio broadcast reception to audio systems for new Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep®, Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner LLC vehicles for the North American market. DaimlerChrysler was the second major OEM to acknowledge that it has chosen Delphi to supply satellite receivers.

``We are excited about receiving this major order for satellite receivers,'' said Jeff Owens, president of Delphi Delco Electronics Systems. ``Our early development of the technology and work with content providers for this new market is paying off. With Americans collectively spending close to 500 million hours per week in their vehicles, we believe many consumers see the value and the benefits of satellite radio.''

Delphi manufactures a complete line of receivers and antennas capable of receiving up to 100 channels of satellite-broadcast audio entertainment. The user interface with the satellite receivers is simple and easy to use like traditional AM/FM band radios. The alphanumeric VF (vacuum fluorescent) or LCD (liquid crystal display) display provides additional information including the channel, type of music and song and artist name, similar to the information provided on audio channels by some home TV satellite systems. In addition, Delphi Delco Electronics Systems provides audio systems with a broad range of head units that accommodate various playback devices such as cassette tapes, CDs and MP3s.
