Not that you would want to shirk your civic duty to serve on a jury, but I suspect if you were in the pool for a criminal case you would be excused if you engaged in an exchange similar to the following:

Q: Mr. McKie, can you be objective in this case and apply the law as the judge directs?

A: Of course. I don't know why you would presume to ask me that. But, I'd think the police would not have charged him if he wasn't guilty.
