Saul a Jew, grew up at the feet of Gamaliel, also a Jew and Hebrew scholar who taught Saul the scriptures of the OT. Saul knew of all the OT prophets and their prophecies, yet when Jesus came Saul denied Him and His diety. He set on a path to persecute and capture all christians for purposes of imprisonment, even stood and held the coats of those who murdered Stephen.
Acts 7:59-60
59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.
60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
Saul, he did not recognize Jesus as his Savior, even though Saul had heard of His miracles and ministry.
It was not until many years after Jesus came, died, and rose for us, that Saul became Paul,And God used him in a most mighty manner.... and forever more Paul wrote 2/3 of the NT which we now preach. To God be the Glory.!
Acts 22:7-8
7 And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?
8 And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? And he said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest.
Could it be said that Saul a Jew, was an antichrist who just needed to be knocked off his high horse.?
God is Soverign and He will use who He will use.!
