Pro-gun Senators like Ashcroft, now Attorney General, have enabled gangs to become terrorists. They can buy guns at gun shows without background checks. Many of these guns are shipped out of the country to terrorists abroad. The Brady group took the issue up. Bush didn't support it. I'll have to check back with the Brady page when I have a moment.
