Thanks, peter. If the P4 chip shortage were due to greater than expected demand, P4 motherboard sales would be equal or higher than any targets that the manufacturers may have had.

This is one of the only indications that the problem is not excess demand for P4's, it is LOWER THAN EXPECTED SUPPLY OF P4's, or possibly even LOWER THEN EXPECTED DEMAND.

Of course, the article only says that January and February P4 mobo output will not meet targets, so any lack of P4's could be due to the 0.18 to 0.13 switchover and initial lower yields.
