05:50 ET European Markets : FTSE -0.79%, DAX -0.47% -- European stocks lower. Weakness in oil stocks a drag. Heating oil inventories surged in the US. Alcatel, Ericsson and Nokia all lower on downgrades from JP Morgan. Dixonns Group hit by weaker than expected Christmas sales. Some reprieve from the positive earnings surprise out of SAP.
