Mucho--You are not that uninformed on this subject. You have been around here too long. I would absolutely agree that the GSM installed base would be an enormous competitive disadvantage if we were frozen in time in a 2g world. The services afforded by the two systems would not be significantly different to expect a flood of defections to CDMA. The GSM installed base, however ,soon becomes a fatted calf upon the arrival of CDMA 2000. The "competition" at that point will be faced with the same cumbersome capital intensive upgrades and time to market disadvantages faced by AWE (see Legg note last week)at which point Unicom commences to eat their lunch, or perhaps CM simply upgrades to 1x itself. In either case its ultimately a win-win, and all the braying by Tero and his sycophants about the lack of a viable 2g business case for Asian CDMA systems is known by him and by you to be irrelevant if you are an investor. Now I know you're a trader, but you are trying to appeal to QCOM investors using investor criteria. I think its intellectually dishonest.

I'm more than happy to be corrected on this point if I am wrong.

Best regards.
