Re: You're as bad as Dan3 - only a lot funnier!

Intel had to race to .13 and outspend AMD 2 or 3 to 1 on a per CPU basis for FABs in order to tie the performance of AMD's .18 CPUs.

Now Intel just has to wait and see what .13 will do for AMD.

Ali is the one who pointed out that AMD's processor voltage and current leakage were consistent with a .18 process and .18 transistors - not the .13 you hope they are already shipping.

Both companies have now said that, starting with the .13 generation, leakage becomes a major limiting factor in performance.

But AMD said it 18 months ago and has a solution scheduled to go into production later this year.

Intel is one to two generations (1.5 to 3 years) away from a solution to the problem they "just discovered." Obviously, they were aware of the characteristics of lab samples for some time, but they appear to have assumed there would be an easy fix until a few months ago, while AMD knew the truth and has been working hard on a fix for about 2 years.

Like DDR, like copper.
