Heatsinker, <2001 was the perfect opportunity for mighty Intel to crush AMD>

This is so stupid. When was Intel's mission ever to "crush AMD"?

The market share argument is stupid as well. AMD got record market share in Q2 and Q3, the same quarters that fell way short of expectations. Why? Because AMD sacrificed profits to go after market share. The only reason they might turn a profit for 2001 is because they're riding off of a relatively strong Q1. And not coincidentally, they didn't have "record market share" in Q1.

Market share that was gained at the expense of profits is not sustainable. If this is the kind of Pyrrhic victory you want to cheer, be my guest.
