David congrats on the fast connection speed. It truly is baffling how it takes so long (years) to get the faster connections to the customers who've been clamering for them. In any other market they'd be working night and day to take care of customers demands.

I recently observed a neighborhood where they had both DSL and Cable Internet service available. They were competing for the same customers and spending money on ads in the newspapers and elsewhere. Either one of them could have gone down the street and scarfed up new customers begging for either service. My opinion of broadband is. They have not wired it...they've HAYWIRED it.

As for my modem. I think I'll buy me a Zoom. <G> Seriously!

In regard to the Old USR. Are we talking the "Old USR" before 3COM or the "Old USR" before todays USR? I believe the USR while 3COM had them, used whatever chipset that fit the application, ALA, TXN or ADI, but mostly ALA and ADI. As I recall the 3COM website indicated there was a flexibility in regard to the chipset used for different applications and conditions, which I understood meant they had to match up with other chipsets and technology used in other components in the system where they'd be installed.
