Friday November 30 - Construction Of Iodine Plant Complete; Aguas Blancas In Full Operation

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--Atacama Minerals Corp. (the ``Company'') is pleased to announce that full iodine operations have been achieved at the Aguas Blancas mine in northern Chile. The melting and prilling facility has now been brought on line making Aguas Blancas the newest, fully integrated, Chilean iodine operation in many years.

Commenting upon this achievement, Adolf Lundin, Chairman of the Board, stated: ``The development and construction targets for Aguas Blancas set and achieved by our joint venture partner ACF Minera S.A. are unprecedented in my experience. Construction at Aguas Blancas commenced in February of this year and 10 months later we are fully operational and have already realized impressive sales. The future of Atacama and Aguas Blancas is very bright''.

Aguas Blancas is a world class deposit of iodine, sulphate and nitrate located in the Atacama Desert of northern Chile, 100 kilometres from the major Chilean port of Antofagasta. Iodine production from the Aguas Blancas mine commenced in April, 2001. The first stage production rate of 720 tonnes of iodine per year is expected to be achieved by year end. Early in the New Year, management will be meeting with our partner ACF to discuss expansion of iodine production at Aguas Blancas as well as development of the mine's sulphates and nitrates reserves. Aguas Blancas hosts the largest sulphate reserves in South America.

ON BEHALF OF THE BOARD
