That doesn't explain the 3 million motherboards that were ordered and built for which the there were no CPUs. Sure it does, just take off those rose AMD glasses.. It doesn't say when during the quarter those boards were built. Many Many Many people expected Q4 to be a disappointment. It now appears that initial indications were that things picked up significantly more than anybody expected. Motherboard makers naturally followed suit. They began Q4 with down expectations, conservative attitude, and certainly conservative production and chip orders. By December (Ho Ho Ho) Things were looking much different than on October 1 (Intel Share price ~ $18.00). Motherboard OEM: Please oh please intel can you spare me some more P4's I'll take anything extra you can give me. Willamette, Northwood... Please Oh Please... Intel: Wassap With That??? You think I got some kinda water faucet, I just snap my fingers and more chips appear?? You said you wanted XX Amount, now you tellin me you want XX+++ Amount. I AINT GOT IT, Can ya wait ~ 10-12 weeks??? Motherboard OEM: Those Bstard intel pukes, they screwed me* Is that what you mean Dan? Semi
