Mishedlo, its possible you're right, except for one thing - the housing market is not really slowing. In fact it is up over 2000 just about everywhere I looked, Florida, Ohio, Wash State, etc. Even in my area which we have the highest unemployment in the country, real estate is still doing well and up significantly from last year.

The housing market continues to remain insulated from the national and regional recessions, at least for now, as house prices in King, Snohomish and Pierce counties continue to rise, according to a report released yesterday by the Northwest Multiple Listing Service.

The median sale price of a single-family house in King County climbed to $265,000 last month, up 5.6 percent from $250,950 in December 2000, according to the Multiple Listing Service. Pending sales were up 15 percent.

Real estate experts, economists and brokers alike said emphatically yesterday that low interest rates continue to drive the housing market.
