TrizecHahn Signs With AES NewEnergy for Texas Facilities
biz.yahoo.com
HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 10, 2002--TrizecHahn, one of the North America's largest commercial property owners and management companies, has re-signed with AES NewEnergy, America's leading retail electricity supplier, for electricity supply at its Houston and Dallas properties.

TrizecHahn had signed with AES NewEnergy for last year's Electric Choice Pilot Program, and wanted to lock in continued savings when the pilot ended and the full state opened to competition.

``TrizecHahn was one of the first companies to take advantage of competition in Texas during the Pilot Program. The savings were substantial, and we look forward to sharing in the success of this market,'' said Paul Layne, Senior Vice President for TrizecHahn. ``TrizecHahn is being served by AES NewEnergy in Illinois and New York, as well as Texas, and we are enjoying reliable, high-quality service with lower prices. We're happy and pleased one company can meet our needs in a variety of different markets.''

On January 1, 2002, Texas opened its electricity market to customer choice, ending a century-old monopoly that had been enjoyed by electric utilities. All customers in all customer classes of investor-owned utilities in Texas are now eligible to choose their retail electricity provider.

``This deal highlights what sets AES NewEnergy apart from other retail electricity providers,'' declared Amy Gasca, Vice President of AES NewEnergy. ``Our national scope, combined with our local knowledge, means our customers will always be dealing with people who are not only intimately familiar with their unique market, but also able to draw on a larger pool of experience from around the country. TrizecHahn has been a part of the AES NewEnergy customer family for some time now, and I look forward to them being part of our local Texas family in the years to come.''
