Actually my grandfather until his death kept a fruit cake in a jar that his mother made for my grandma and grandpa's first Christmas. He would pull it out every Christmas to eat one small piece. 62 years of that until his death and I don't think it was the fruit cake that killed him.

Shit isn't edible when fresh. I shudder to think what it might have tasted like after 62 years in a jar.
