DAY didn't have a promoter or an exploration dept. Now it does. PFG didn't have a portfolio of properties. Now it does. And the balance sheet of DAY is improved. If gold holds up it's a good deal. If gold crashes it will be a crappy deal for everyone. I don't see your analysis of it being a defensive deal in any way.
