<3G is 144kbs peak.> Please remember that when GPRS/EDGE does it, hmm, how many old legacy slots did that take... not even assuming 16QAM, just 4QAM, 200kHz bandwidth, regular 4QAM raw speed 400kbps... Additionally some dynamic GSM-channel allocation?? (easier with 200kHz than 1MHz, while waiting for 4G and some kind of OFDMA) Would be too cruel on QCOM, cause lots of indirect global Seybold problems, but what is this american saying of "unspeakingly softly with a big stick"??
