Hi Clappy, Cancun is on the east side of Mexico. West side of the Carribean. Sometimes, the best vacations are the spur of the moment ones. Cancun is very commercialized. Very modern Mexico, if you stay on hotel row. Luxury beach stuff....nice, good snorkeling and diving areas, but I loved heading south to the Maya ruins best. Kewl stuff, very interesting. :o) Ramblin
