Merrill expects Dell to top Q4 rev. est. (DELL) By Tomi Kilgore
Analyst Steven Fortuna at Merrill Lynch said his research indicates that Dell Computer (DELL) will top consensus analyst expectations for revenue in its fiscal fourth quarter. According to a Thomson Financial/First Call survey of analysts, expectations are for revenue of $7.66 billion. "In our opinion, revenue could end up as high as $7.8 billion in the fourth quarter, largely driven by stronger-than-expected consumer PC sales during the holiday season," Fortuna said in a note to clients. He thinks if revenue comes in that high, earnings for the period may be 17 cents a share, a penny better than expectations. The stock, which closed Thursday down 6 cents to $29.33, is tacking on 42 cents to $29.75 in pre-open trading.
