Lay was a top contributor to the younger Bush's 2000 presidential campaign.

and to Tom Daschle and several other prominent Democrats.

The company played a key role earlier this year when a White House task force met with business executives and other interests to fashion a national energy policy. The task force was headed by Vice President Dick Cheney.

Because Enron was the biggest energy trader it would make sense that they would have input into energy policy. Apparently their input didn't get them a lot of favors judging by their bankruptcy. I understand that when some Enron execs realized things where going bad they contacted administration officials looking for favors using the argument that Enron going down could effect the whole energy sector. They where turned down.

Are you talking about "whitewater II?"

If he is he is talking nonsense.
