Perhaps, that Sanyo phone will be priced under $300 and a comparable 1x model ~$400?

The Sanyo 5150 is already 1x....or at least it has a 1x chipset (the MSM5105) already inside. Courtesy of S100....

Since PCS hasnt even acknowledged that this handset is 1x, I'm not sure how it will perform when the 1x network goes live. However, it would seem to have the necessary components to allow the 144 Kbps. Perhaps it will need a flash upgrade...

In any case, I think 1x handsets with color screens should be available for sub $300 prices by Christmas.
