Herb claimed: The AMDroids ala McGee, a great source of speculations, are gushing all over themselves about their erroneous perception of an Intel paper launch of the Northwood. Rather they should be looking at the paper launch of the Athlon XP 2000 which does not appear to available at its launch. Frankly I don?t think there has been too many 1900s that are available either.

Out of curiousity, what are you using as a basis for that statement? I am looking at pricewatch.com as we speak - Intel Pentium 4 2.2 Ghz Socket 478 has listings at 17 stores (2 pages). By contrast, AMD Athlon 2000 XP has listings at 22 stores (also 2 pages). More or less a dead heat.

As for XP 1900+, it has 60 store listings - 5 pages. (As a comparison to it, Intel's 2 ghz 478 socket offering which has 63 listings, 6 pages).

Looks pretty even for store listings for both companies.. so I dont think charges that either Intel or AMD are paper-launching are necessarily correct. If you are using some other info for the above claim on the XP, I'm interested in hearing it
