"So is it your understanding that we "belong" to God in the sense of a possession?"

That is one sense, but there is also a sense where we are in relationship with God. This relationship is blocked by our sin and can only be re established by God Himself. Since we are unable to climb up to God by way of religious observance and practice, Jesus came, incarnate, to fulfill the Law for us, that He might receive the just penalty for sin, and graciously give us His righteousness.

You don't appear to believe anything is good or evil, except in the most abstract way, as a construct. Can you live your philosophy?
