No, of course Gorbachev wanted to end the Cold War - he's the one who signaled to the US that an end was possible, which is why he was kidnapped in 1991 by the hardliners attempting a coup, remember? That's when Yeltsin became famous, helping restore Gorby to power, even though they were enemies.

Just ask the Czechs, the Hungarians, the East Germans, whether there was a Cold War.
