AMD is now also in the SMP workstation and server businesses - a much bigger business for them and much more important to the success of the company. This is an area in which Intel was once the undisputed leader. AMD is now also a leader in the design and establishment of new technologies such as DDR memory and hypertransport for the high end computer market - much more important to the success of the company. This is an area in which Intel was once the undisputed leader. AMD is now also a leader in the volume implementation of new fabrication technologies such as copper interconnect and SOI - much more important to the success of the company. This is an area in which Intel was once the undisputed leader.
