I can see how you would interpret my Ass post that way. It was certainly not what I intended. My Ass post was in response to a post from BF that was a set of links to a collection of doom-and-gloom sites. I wrote in response "a man is known by the company he keeps," a reference to BF's link selection. Then I thought it would be fun to post the Aesop's fable from which this aphorism derives. Clearly a bad idea.
