Zeev, like I said the budget is a bit above 1% of EU GNP. The structural funds portion of $40 billion may not sound much, but it is, given than the combined GNP of the three poorest countries (Ireland, Portugal, Greece), which get the largest portion of the funds, is only around $400 billion. These countries receive net EU aid of roughly 3% of their GNP. If we translate this in US terms, it would be as if somebody gave the US $300 billion annually -- equal to our defense budget.
