Duke, Re: AA & ENE

There are a series of 3 PDFs at accountingmalpractice.com under the section Lessons from the Enron Collapse that I consider worth the read, at least for a neophite such as I.

Even further, plaintiffs will likely hire a number of established experts to tell them where all of the violations of GAAS and GAAP occurred. These experts will not be from another Big Five firm because they do not testify against each other and, in fact, have an inherent conflict in doing so. The Big Five share certain joint insurance pooling arrangements. Therefore a Big Five expert testifying against another Big Five firm stands a chance of costing his own firm millions in losses.

Re: <Anybody remember John McCain, who ran on the platform of campaign finance reform, which has since gotten buried.>

I sure would have liked to have seen John come up with the nomination.

The rule of law in the US seems to have degenerated into a form of 'What can you get away with' instead of 'What's the right thing'.
