Interesting how the number of shares outstanding only went from 6B in 7/97 to 7.3B in 7/01(I'm assuming the article you linked to doesn't know the data for 7/02, as the article states) when there were two 3 for 2 splits as well as two 2 for 1 splits during that timeframe. finance.yahoo.com
